very easy route suitable for children that starts with a visit to the Saracen village of Varigotti with its brightly coloured Moorish style houses and continues with a trip to the "Watchtower on the promontory of Punta Crena" that can be reached from the village in a few minutes. Here from a terrace on the promontory you can enjoy a magnificent view from the cliffs of Noli in the east to the island Gallinara in the west.
To the left of the tower is the "Mediterranean Botanical Garden" where you can observe several native species well presented through various explanatory signs. Altogether about 70 botanical species are reported including alaterno, lentisk, arbutus, myrtle, lavender and rosemary and in general plants that have adapted particularly well to the climate and the high salt concentration of the rocky territory overlooking the sea.
The second part of our itinerary continues by crossing the "Castrum", seat of a maritime fortress located in a strategic point overlooking the coast and the hinterland, and climbing up the cobblestones that lead to the picturesque Church of San Lorenzo overlooking the Bay of the Saracens.
